Payback

My mom told me once that one thing that makes motherhood in general so hard is that the paybacks are few and far between...but they make it worth it. Today I experienced a payback. After the last three days being filled with tantrums and defiance from my beautiful two year old, I got to hear him pray for the first time without help from me or his dad. It went something like this:

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this day.
Thank you for baby brother.
Thank you for Daddy.
Thank you for Jeff and Nichole.
Thank you for Daddy.
Thank you for Mama.
Thank you for Daddy.
Thank you for this day.
In the name of Jesus...
Thank you I could take a nap today.
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

It melted my heart! I loved that he was SO grateful for his daddy and that he wanted to pray all by himself! Also, I didn't realize he was missing his naps so much! I guess I can handle that!! Anyway, I so love my little boys! I'm so lucky to have them in my life and the paybacks definitely make the tantrums worth it.

Thomas prays like this. "Heany Fafer, Less Mommy...Amen!" Every time....going on like three months now :-)

That is so sweet! I love to hear kids pray. I was reading your previous post and I'm happy to hear that we're not the only ones that have to physically force our screaming child into his car seat. If I come up with any good ideas on not using bribery I'll let you know :)

What a sweet moment!! The terrible twos are pretty rough around our house as well! Glad you got some payback. I think William will be a while before he gets to that point. He always tries to end prayers as quickly as possible- his, ours, strangers . . . . what's your secret?
