Kid updates!

Tyson has been memorizing scriptures for the past year or so.  We had some friends over and in trying to also memorize the scripture had said that it said the word red in it twice when really it only had it once.  This really confused Tyson and it took him awhile to figure out that it only said red once.  After he had learned it, he came up to me and said, "(our friends) would say it like this, 'Isaiah 1: 18, Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, and red like jam, and blue like blueberries, they shall be as wool."  He said it with a straight face and fit it perfectly together.  It was hilarious!

At dinner the other day, Christian was talking about the difference between ortho (meaning orthodontics) and dentistry.  Tyson turned to me and said, "Ortho rhymes with Dorco!"

Since we are moving, we got rid of our high chair that was missing its seatbelt and was given to us for free.  It has been wonderful but not worth moving.  Christian's dad was changing Austin's diaper.  Greg said, "wow, he's really made a mess, huh?"  Tyson responded, "Yeah, Austin always pooped in the high chair.  I don't know why they got rid of it."

Wow, Look!  An extra-dalmation point!! (exclamation point)

Me: Who is this? (pointing to a picture of President Thomas S. Monson--the prophet)
Tyson: It's General Conference!

Austin Loves to eat apples whole just like a big boy .  I love seeing my boys play together!  Every morning and every evening they laugh and 'talk' in their room and I love it!  Then Tyson runs into my room to tell me the sun woke up.  They really are adorable!

 Austin sitting at the table!
My two big boys eating breakfast together :)
Tyson and Austin will eat frozen eggos for breakfast.  It doesn't get much easier than that!

Austin is a ham for the camera.
Tyson is starting to write and draw.  Here is the first heart he drew for me!

What a cutie!  He skinned his knee pretty bad and wouldn't wear pants for weeks!  He would walk around holding his short leg up so that it couldn't be near his scab.

Tyson sounded out and wrote his name at church.  He was so proud to tell me that his name has two I's "See mom? Ty i sin.  There's two I's!!"
We are going to miss our friends!
Nicole came up and we got to let the kids play one last time.  We had pizza and the kids just played.  It's crazy how quickly they forget their best friends.
Austin still comes up and gives the best hugs.  He'll hold my hair (or his) and suck his thumb.  He isn't talking so tantrums have been a struggle but besides that he's wonderful.  I can't believe he's already 17 months!  He can say Dog and he'll repeat mamamama when he's mad.  Other than that he jibbers nonsensical things all day.  I can't get enough of him!

Family!!

My Awesome sister, Tenille is selling pest control in Dallas and drove all the way up to Austin on her one day off to see me and Dan and Katie.  She is so much fun to be around and I'm so glad she drove all that way!  I love you Tenille!!!  You are amazing!

Camping!

Over the past few years, I have wanted to go camping up at Garner State Park.  It is so beautiful there!  My cousin, Susan helped make my dreams come true!  We went up with the Slaughs, Blairs, and Updikes and it was incredible.  It was a comfortable temperature, and there were absolutely no bugs whatsoever!  We stayed up until 2:00 am playing games, swam in the river, rented paddle boats, and had the best food ever!  It was a wonderful time.  Thank you Susan!

Here are the pictures from the father son campout this last year.  Tyson had a great time eating candy all night long!  He only would eat plain marshmellows--not cooked ones!

Easter

This Easter we were able to have Dan and Katie come up and join us.  We are going to miss them so much!  They brought cascarones (eggs with confetti inside) which is a tradition in San Antonio.  After seeing how they worked, Tyson really only wanted to watch other people get eggs smashed on their heads.  Later that day, we were walking home and a family was crushing their cascarones on each other's heads in the driveway.  The mom told her son to run over and give one to Tyson.  He ran over and Tyson must have thought he was coming to crush it on his head.  I have never seen him run so fast in his life!  He was terrified!!  I guess when it comes to fight or flight he may be more inclined to fly--which is ok by me :)
 We colored easter eggs
We went to an amazing Easter egg hunt put on by our dear friends the Riggs.  Austin was only interested in eating the jelly beans inside the eggs :)
Tyson loved coloring the eggs!  We made them with dye and vinegar since we were too lazy to walk up to the dollar store :)  It worked pretty well!
Easter morning the boys got to find their baskets and eggs.  We didn't tell them anything about an easter bunny but Tyson was convinced the eggs were for the bunnies to eat.  It's funny what kids pick up and put together on their own!  He was thoroughly confused though when people would ask him whether the easter bunny came to visit!  It was pretty funny!

We are so grateful for the real reason we celebrate Easter.  The resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ is an incredible and true gift to all of us.  I'm so blessed to know about Him and be able to worship Him.  I hope that love for Him is what our boys take away from Easter.

General Conference

Every six months our church holds a worldwide general conference where the Prophet and several other leaders in our church speak to the world.  This year, to try and help Tyson pay attention, we set cups of candy out with several key words written on them.  Each time he heard the words, Pray, Jesus Christ, Scriptures, covenant, or Joseph Smith, he got to eat a candy.  Here he is listening with both of his ears.  I think he got more out of it than I did!  He picks up the littlest things and actually understands them.  He really is amazing!  If you are interested in what the prophet said, you can find it at lds.org.  I know he is a true prophet today who has been called by Jesus Christ to help us to know of God's love for us.  His words have brought me comfort and I know he's been called of God.

Corpus Christi

Our friends, the Hills, invited us to come out and visit them during the air show in April.  It was so fun! We have missed them so much.
 Tyson and Bennett :)

Austin was a little sleepy during the air show.  Other than that, it was fantastic!  The world champion arialist pilot was there and it was incredible.  It was also a little scary because it looked as if he was going to die several times.  We went running along the beach to remind us of the good ol' days and just had a lot of fun!

The best part was renting a mini van from some friends in the ward and driving up with the Blairs.  We saved on gas and doubled the fun!  We stayed up all night eating brownies and telling stories.  Thank you Hills!
